President Mission Statement

"My name is Joseph Rivera De la Vega, J.D., and my mission is to make soccer more accessible and affordable, ultimately freeing the game from financial barriers. Growing up in Utah, I experienced firsthand the challenges of high soccer fees, often exceeding $1500-2000 per year. Despite the talent in our community, many promising players struggled to pursue their dreams due to financial constraints, perpetuating systemic inequalities. Out of the pool of magnificent players I grew up with, only very few were able to take their careers to the next level. Why? Because systemic pushes excluded low-income individuals. Despite their talent, many of my friends and peers could have gone pro, but the exorbitant costs of soccer forced them to find jobs, support their families, or sacrifice their education and soccer aspirations.

Coming from an immigrant family, I saw my father work tirelessly to provide for us. Soccer was a passion for me, but the high club fees made it an impossible dream. Witnessing the financial strain firsthand, I vowed to make a difference in my community. Having graduated from law school at 21, I made a commitment to serve my community and address these disparities within the sport I love. At Rivera FC, we offer a yearly fee of $840, equivalent to $70 per month, providing structured training and development opportunities that far surpass the offerings of Sunday leagues charging $15 per game with minimal preparation—amounting to $60 a month. Moreover, while other clubs may offer similar programs, Rivera FC stands out as the most affordable option, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder any child's opportunity to pursue their soccer dreams. For just $10 more than the cost of playing in unstructured leagues, parents can invest in their child's future and provide them with the structured training and development necessary to succeed in soccer and beyond. Ultimately, it's all for the kids—their dreams, their development, and their future."

"Mi nombre es Joseph Rivera De la Vega, J.D., y mi misión es hacer que el fútbol sea más accesible y asequible, liberando el juego de barreras financieras. Al crecer en Utah, experimenté de primera mano los desafíos de las altas tarifas de fútbol, que a menudo superaban los $1500-2000 al año. A pesar del talento en nuestra comunidad, muchos jugadores prometedores luchaban por perseguir sus sueños debido a limitaciones financieras, perpetuando desigualdades sistémicas.
